What is Counselling ?
People seek counselling when they want to change something about their life, or have a particular problem which requires professional help. The client and counsellor work together to enable the client to explore feelings and behaviour which is affecting their lives and that of others.
The counsellor does not give advice but helps the client find their own solutions to their problems, to clear confusion and bring understanding to emotional, behavioural, relationship issues and relationship problems.
Counselling gives a safe, private and confidential setting where you can share freely and openly about yourself and others without the fear you are being judged, empowering you to feel safe and make the changes you seek.
However supportive family and friends may seem, sometimes it can be helpful to talk to a more objective and neutral person outside your usual network of support.
Locations
My counselling practice covers area’s around Lincoln, Gainsborough, Retford, Worksop, Newark and the Bassetlaw district. With a central office outside Retford I am in commutable distance for all these areas.
I also give consideration to holding sessions in other venues, e.g. client’s home address, where travel may place restrictions on the client, places of employment, GP’s surgeries and schools where students have specific issues.
Will it Work For Me ?
Therapy enables clients to understand the issues they have, clear confusion in their lives and as a result may empower them to make changes leading to a more healthy life. It doesn't work for everyone and isn't a miracle cure, it can work if the client engages in the process and feels strongly enough to seek change. Therapy may not make your problems vanish but it can enable you to manage them in a structured way and is so doing assist you in making rational decisions which may bring changes to your life.
